Day trippin in Miami

So we arrived at 6 AM Miami time this morning (3 AM our time). Good flight but the sleep was a little rough. In a weird coincidence, we sat behind the exact same family that sat in front of us on our way to Miami last year. A somewhat unforgettable crew, Steve immediately recognized them as our fellow passengers from the year prior. Talk about a strange coincidence.

We were so lucky to be able to check into our room at 7 AM when we arrived at the hotel. They did not charge us for an extra night even - a great service. After 2 years of such luck one might be tempted to assume that this is usual but we know that we have simply been lucky 2 years in a row. We started with breakfast and then went to bed to catch some zzzzzs. Here is the view from our room at the Hilton.

After a long nap we got up and hit the gym for some exercise. Then we made a few calls, showered and headed to the pool where we spent the remainder of the afternoon. It is hot here - in the 90's at least but the pool is located on the 3rd floor and the wind kicked in a little to provide some relief. All in all it was a nice, leisurely afternoon.

We met up with Gretchen, Shayna and Rick this evening for dinner. We met at an Italian restaurant near our hotel and it was great. Catching up with Shayna and Gretchen and getting to know Rick were the best parts but the food took a close second. It was entertaining to hear more about Shayna and how much she is growing up! We truly hope they take us up on the invitation to visit us in Seattle this fall or sometime soon.
