Our dinner companions turn out to be 2 couples who both just got married. One is from Spain and while the charming husband does his best to participate, his English is limited. His new bride does not speak ANY English, which made dinner challenging but entertaining as we tried to translate and converse. He works in transportation at the airport in Madrid while she works in an office doing property management from what we can tell.
The other couple is a charming pair from Cork, Ireland. They met while in a play where she was a wife and he was her husband. Guess it worked so well that they decided to make it reality. He works for Amazon by trade and she is in biotech of some nature.
It was a nice table, although a it odd being the youngest ones but also the old pros at being married. Our server, Suart, is on his second day on the ship but did his best to take care of us all. His assistant, Miang, is from China and is a very sweet woman. I am sure we will have wonderful dining experiences all week.
There was a flashy parade in the grand promenade after dinner, which we enjoyed while sipping port from Vintages, the wine bar. The parade reminded me of the one at the Rio (in fact the whole cruise ship has that Vegas feel about it) but without the floats hanging from the ceiling.
Our only real disappointment was our vain search for ice cream at 12:30 AM. Evidently the self-serve ice cream bar closes early and Ben & Jerry's shuttered up at midnight. Had to settle for pretty good pizza for our midnight snack.
We are cruising today and can see a small strip of land in the distance. Our plans include a stop at the spa, working out, a game show, bingo, shuffleboard and relaxing by the pool.

I wish my mom and dad were on a cruise right now....cooling off in the swimming pool instead of sticking to the leather couch in this 90 degree heat. Enjoy the cruise and stay cool!
