No Go for Coco

So today the captain decided against stopping in Coco Cay. Evidently the weather is too windy to allow the tenders to bring people to shore. To be honest, I am glad that we did not stop because it is really windy and cold. The sun is out but with the blowing wind it is a might chilly. I have a hard time seeing us brave the cold to snorkel and float on the water. Given that we would have been charged for the snorkel gear and float mats that we pre-booked, I am glad the cpt decided against stopping.

So today has instead been a day at sea, which has been fun in some ways and challenging in others. We started the day with spa appointments that included a back massage, scalp massage, foot massage, facial and eye treatment. In about an hour they pampered us to the point of ultimate relaxation. The package was a special and because we booked it early (8 AM) it was a good deal. Mom, Mary and I emerged a little rummy from it but truly relaxed and content.

We had a late breakfast and then went to play Bingo. I am proud to say that Mary won the very first game, netting a whopping $37 (but that was a lot better than mom and I did). It was a good way to spend an hour but I don't think we'll be doing it again - it cost nearly $34 to play!

We spent some time looking at the shops on board and debating the pros and cons of purchasing the duty-free alcohol. We have until this evening to make that decision as we will be in Florida (Key West) by tonight.

After a quick snooze I headed to the gym where I ran 3 miles on the treadmill amidst the rolling and rocking of the ship. Added an extra element to my workout but also made me a little green around the gills. Nothing a little 7-Up (and vodka) couldn't cure.

I believe mom is out walking the ship. She claims we have fed her too much caffeine and is wound up quite tight. Mary is resting her feet and taking it easy this afternoon. I have tried in vain to find a place on deck that would provide a nominal amount of sunshine with the least amount of wind. I ended up inside at the bar, which has proved to be quite relaxing. Several others have curled up with a good book and a drink.

We are looking forward to tonight's entertainment, which includes an impressionist and the Quest game. Last night had us laughing hard at the Love & Marriage Game Show (with a quite comical couple married for 57 years) and a 70's show called Boogie Wonderland. I am hopeful that tonight's show will be as entertaining.

Despite the weather, this has been a relaxing day. I hope tomorrow holds at least a little warmth and sunshine but am not expecting it. I think it will be a ton of fun just to see Key West on its own.
