So long, farewell

This morning we reached the end of our cruise (sigh) and departed from Majesty of the Seas. We decided to take the traditional route of setting our luggage out the night before and waiting for regular departure instead of carrying off our own luggage. To be honest, it took nearly the same amount of time as when Steve and I carried off in the past. We got up at 7, went to the buffet at 8 and grabbed a bite after searching for an open table for a while. By 8:30 we arrived at the Spectrum lounge, our appointed waiting area. Within 5 minutes the announcement was made that our luggage color was ready. By 9 we had our luggage and were waiting for the Hertz shuttle bus (which proved to be the longest and most hassle of the day).

After waiting in the cold for about 30 minutes, we finally squeezed aboard the van and made our way to the Hertz downtown Miami office. This place is in the heart of the grizzly city, as the 45 minutes of waiting there for our rental proved. Mom was approached (twice) by a homeless man peddling a new pair of girl's size 8 tennis shoes still in the box (can you say hot?) while Mary ran into some interesting experiences inside the local Starbucks. I was in line in the Hertz office for most of that.

We eventually got our rental, which turned out to be a spanking new mini van. Yippee (not). So much for my record of never being a mini van driver. Never less, at least it was new and our stuff fit. We set off north on 95 to find Las Olas for some shopping.
