Secret Surprise

So we have not yet told the boys, but Steve and I have booked a 5 day trip to Disneyland over spring break. This is so completely contrary to what we always said we would do (wait until they are old enough to walk the park completely and ride all of the rides). However, a few things changed our minds:
  • I got an email advertising a steel of a deal on travel to Disneyland. What with the economy the way it is, I guess they needed to fill the park. So essentially kids fly free, stay free and parents get into the park at kid prices. The whole trip will be about $2,000. A great deal.
  • After talking to others who have taken their little ones to D-land, we realized a great point: this is the age when they still believe in magic and miracles. Yes, they won't be tall enough or brave enough to ride the big rides. But they will find it amazing to meet Mickey (and will actually believe he is a mouse and not some guy underneath the costume). We don't want to wait so long that we miss this stage.

I was sort of kidding when I brought it up to Steve but after some thinking about it and conversing with fellow teachers, he was in. I booked the trip and now we are scheduled to take off in a week!

The kids do not yet know where we are going. I have been dying to tell them and am so excited to talk to them about everything we have planned and what i have learned about the park. We plan to tell them on Sunday, giving all of us a few days to pack and investigate online before we leave.
