Thunder Mountain afternoon

Saturday in Disneyland park was a whole new level of crowded. We really had a fraction of the crowds the last 2 days but today you really noticed the swarms of people.

We started by grabbing FP for Thunder Mt Railroad and then tried to beat the rush to see Mickey in toon town again. We had seen him before but didn't have out autograph books then. Unfortunately, the line was really long and Mickey called it a day at 4:30 so we didn't make it.

We had actually gone on all of the rides we wanted and thanks to RideMax, we were used to no lines. We spent the next hour grabbing some snacks and walking around. When it was time, we hopped on Thunder Mt, which everyone loved. What a great little ride that is!

As we were walking around the back side of Thunder Mt we noticed what looked like a western style restaurant. But it wasn't on the map. We came back eventually, thinking the BBQ dinner they were advertising sounded really good.

It turned out that this is a new character meal that opened 3 days ago! The restaurant facility there had been closed for 9 years but due to customer demand for a BBQ type meal, Disney brought to life the Big Thunder Ranch. We loved it!

The meal is family style and included a very generous portion of BBQ chicken & ribs, corn wheels (sliced corn on the cob that were easy to eat), cornbread, baked beans, coleslaw, drinks and an amazing cowboy cone dessert. We were seated at checkered-cloth picnic tables while a few singers and the cook did a little show.

Woody, Jesse and Bulls-eye all joined the event and CHip & Dale also made an appearance. At first Grady was really shy of Jesse and Woody but as time went on, he really warmed up. One of my favorite memories of Grady on this trip will be him secretly smiling and waving to Woody when nobody was looking. Woody waved back and they had this little game going. Grady was sure to capture his autograph and about 4 photos with Woody and Jesse. He loved this place!!!!
