Bend - Part Deux

So we admitted defeat and accepted another night here in Sunriver. Luckily the campground has lots of room - smarter people know this time of year is a risk.

We spent the morning playing a game of Uno, Skip-Bo and snowball fights. We improvised socks for gloves when hands became too cold. The passes have remained rough all day - still requiring chains for anything towing.

Around 11 we got stir crazy so headed into Bend again. No snow there - just flurries. We had a most enjoyable lunch at the Deschutes Brewery (thank Kevin for the tip). The boys enjoyed the rootbeer. Steve enjoyed the beer sampler while I preferred the Bachelor and Irish Red. I had the most incredible Mac n Cheese ever - it was called Sweet & Spicy and had a most tantalizing mix of brown sugar (sweet) and Cajun (spicy) and bacon. YUM! OK - so not exactly Zone Diet friendly but after 2 full beers and the thought of spending the next 18 hours in a 17 foot trailer with 2 little (and 1 big) boys it was soooo worth it.

When we got back to the campground it was hailing (again). Grady jumped out of the truck and said, "It's raining mints!" and proceeded to run around licking the small pellets. Altoids anyone?

When I went to unload the groceries I emerged from the trailer to find Grady with his pants down, peeing into the woods at our campsite! Mortified, I ordered him inside, to which he told me once it starts, it doesn't stop. I was sure we were going to be kicked out of the campground but couldn't stop laughing at the same time.

The boys are listening to an audio book on my computer while I type this and the snow continues outside. Oddly, Stephen appears to be pulled into the story as well.... oh wait, he is actually sleeping while sitting up. Should have guessed.

Despite the change in plans, we are having fun and enjoying each other. The quarters may be cramped but the laughs are loud and often. Things are not going as planned (did I mention that our campsite does not have dump facilities so we are watching our tank closely) but we are adapting and being flexible. Steve has been helping himself to leftover firewood at sites after people leave so hopefully we will have enough for a good fire tonight. Regardless, we are making memories.....
