Packing!

As I spent hours (yes hours) this weekend weeding through clothing for the boys, it occurred to me just how difficult it is to pack for a family for 12 days. We want to be as "light" as possible but reality is that we each need our own suitcase (and some need more than just the one). Even with an outrageously priced load of laundry on the ship, we still have a lot of stuff in our luggage. Complicating matters is the fact that Colby & Grady have outgrown every pair of long pants they own. Either that or someone snuck into their cluttered rooms (risking sprained ankle on Hot Wheels cars or embedded Lego on foot) and shortened their clothing. Would be a great trick but not what happened. These kids have grown. Turns out that is what happens when they are fed and watered. I think I nearly have us 3 all situated but Steve still needs to put the finishing touches on his packing. He is actually taking more shoes than I am(!) but I will likely regreat that decision. One pair of dress shoes might not cut it. Alaska is a difficult cruise to pack for because summer dresses will not be necessary. Will we even bust out the shorts? Not sure. Certainly jeans and fleece will be in order but not for dinners on the ship. Does REI carry fleece dresses? Just a thought...
