Our first official dinner in the dining room was a great success. While we're not all seated at the same table together, a quick meeting with the matre de and we were assigned to table 414 in the Cascades Dining room. Our server is named Elstin and he is a delightful yang man from India. He sAw to every detail of the meal, even cutting the boys meat for them! Talk about making mom & dad happy!
What made the dinner even more memorable was the delightful and amazing attitude our boys (and Chuck) had during the dinner. So, being little boys, obviously we were a little worried about manners and willingness to try new things. Well, those boys made us so proud! Colby willingly ordered the watermelon gazpacho (ostensibly for me as I had ordered an onion appetizer but he ended up eating the gazpacho and loving it) and had sirloin steak for his main meal. Grady ordered grilled chicken breast but declined appetizers. So Elstin brought him a nice cup of veggies that Grady devoured. He also brought the kids a plate of fries and ketchup in the shape of a smiley face.
The rest of us enjoyed sumptuous pork medallion, fresh halibut and prime rib. Desserts included a piece of cherry chocolate cake with a candle and the entire dining staff singing happy birthday to Mary!!!!! Steve had to ask for a cheese plate and port, a tradition started on the last cruise. The service was amazing and the evening a truly memorable one.
