So our flight to Paris was delayed an hour. Not a major issue except our layover in Paris was only an hour and a half to begin with.
The Delta flight over was 9+ hours on an Airbus plane that was larger than any the boys have flown on before. We splurged for the economy plus seats which meant we got right behind the bulkhead. Room for our legs galore!!!
We were impressed with Delta and the transatlantic flight. The food was surprisingly good and they gave us (warpped) pillows, blankets and even eye covers and earplugs.
Most of us managed to get a little shut eye except for Grady, who despite pleas and threats from his parents, could not manage a rest. Too much noise and lights. And the eye mask is suffocating.... Needless to say I think we will have a cranky boy on our hands later.
We landed in Paris and walked off the plane at 9:15. Our Dublin flight was scheduled to leave at 9:40. After several minutes of trying to locate our gate number, we rushed off in search of K25.
Little did we know, we had to go through security again. Why I honestly don't understand because we never left the secured area. But it was pretty clear we weren't getting through to K25 without clearing security.
And it was also pretty clear that this American family was not prepared nor in possession of language skills that would result in a speedy clearing through security. I know a couple phrases in French but none are ones I would try on a French airport security officer.
Of course we left our Surfaces in the bags (no no in Paris) and of course we had an extra water bottle from the plane. Of course Grady got randomly swabbed while a guard took literally every item out of Steve and Colby's bag.
It was 9:35 when we cleared security and headed in search of K25. Round the hallway, down an escalator and finally to a closed gate. But thankfully staffed with compassionate crew. He told us he was just closing the doors. After frantically scanning boarding passes and passports, we were directed to a bus. Yes, a bus.
And we waited on that bus for another 20 minutes while some but I am guessing not all passengers from our flight straggled on. If you stopped to use the restroom, you did not make this flight.
The bus wound it's way around the airport until we finally came to a handful of Cityjet planes sitting on the tarmac. This is a puddle jumper... Or should I say pond jumper?
We had to wait on the plane for another 20 minutes while they loaded luggage from connecting flights. Yup, that would be us. Hoping our luggage is waiting for us when we land.
Next stop: Dublin!
