We were able to spend a couple hours waling around Wai-O-Tapu and plugging our noses at the smell while gawking at the colored pools. Much like Yellowstone but contained in an easy 2-3 mile hike, this natural collection of geysers and hot springs are fascinating.
Grady was particularly in his element, naming the elements that made the pools color like they did (red was iron oxide, blue was chloride, yellow was acid sulfate, orange was arsenic and bright green was sulfur arsenic).
