On our way we headed south through Old Faithful and Lake Yellowstone. We stopped at Fishing Bridge and when we emerged from the trailer we realized that a herd of bison were walking up the bank and down the river. We stopped for about 30 minutes and watched (from safety) while the bison took over the road. Then we followed them along the road for ways. A few miles after Lake Village we came upon the big herd of about 75 bison, up close and personal as they made their way across the road. It was soooooo cool to see those giant animals up close, to hear their grunts and smell their stink (OK maybe we could have done without that part....)
We made it to Cody just after noon and set up camp. Then we made our way to the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. There are 5 museums within this giant museum so we decided to tackle a couple today and hit the rest tomorrow. We started with the Buffalo Bill museum, reading all about his adventures as an American icon and supposed war hero. it was fascinating to learn about the Wild West show and i have to admit that the quality of the exhibit exceeded my expectations. We then breezed through the Western Art exhibit, which the boys had a difficult time enjoying. Perhaps tomorrow mom and I will go back to the art while the boys spend some time in the fire arms exhibit.
The town of Cody is a small and touristy place, although we had a lot of fun checking out the leather and saddlery shops. Colby & Grady enjoyed the toy shop and the Candy store (big surprise). We checked out the famous Irma Hotel and reserved some spots for the gunfight tomorrow.
Tonight's entertainment was at the Cody Cattle Company and we had a most excellent time. It was simply one of the best evenings we have had in a long time. The food was good - a buffet with chicken, beef, corned bread, coleslaw, baked beans, salad and brownies. But the entertainment was so amazing that I cannot even begin to describe it. We all had a great time and if you are ever in Cody I highly recommend visiting this establishment. Great value and amazing entertainment.
Tomorrow we head back to check out the other 3 museums, hit the gunfighter show and the rodeo. Giddy up!

Loving the blog, and the photo of the group in front of the Yellowstone sign is great!
Saw the dr. yesterday, and despite measuring 40 weeks (at 37), I am not likely to have this baby in the next week. But she'll be a big one when she arrives!
