Badlands and Wall

We traveled about 2 hours from the Black Hills to the Badlands, staying at another (although not as luxurious) KOA. It was set off the road from the 67 population of Interior - the saddest excuse for a city we have seen. But the KOA was clean, ready for our arrival and just what we needed.

Braving the upper 80 degree temperature, we hopped in the van and toured the badlands. Mostly they are grey/ash colored formations that stretch across the sky and deep into caverns below. We hiked a couple small boardwalk hikes, including the "door" and "window" trails. Grady was not all that interested in hiking, so it took some coaxing and a lot of patience to get him on the trails. But we did and it was very cool.

We made our way through the scenic loop and up into Wall, which is the infamous home to Wall Drug. The boys thought it was very impressive, although we had a little low-blood sugar moment with Grady. He got through it (wasn't his day) and we "mined" for gems in a cavern at Wall Drug.

We headed back to the camp site where we enjoyed a fire and put the evening to bed.
