Keystone

We arrived in Keystone mid-afternoon and went immediately to the Presidential Wax Museum. Once we checked in, we were each given a wand that we could program with a set number and then listen to like a phone. There were 27 sets and then a few singular busts. To be honest, there were a LOT of presidents and after a while the patience wore thin a little and things started to run together. But the quality was pretty good; there were a few that I was convinced were going to start talking and moving.

I thought the George W Bush scene was really well done, as it was a scene of him standing on a burnt fire engine at Ground Zero after 9/11. The Reagan one was a little disappointing and the Lynden Johnson scene a bit gruesome with Jackie standing there while he was sworn in and she still had blood on her (!). But several scenes were very well done. The boys did amazingly well, listening to at least 20 before getting antsy. It was really cold in the exhibit (wax melts after all) so we were freezing by the time we were done. But considering where we are, this was a really well done museum.

After, we headed across the street and Colby and Steve rode a chairlift up a mountain and then "bobsled" down. The sled was actually on wheels and Grady was too afraid to go down the luge. So he and I waited at the bottom with Grandma & Papa until Colby & Steve came rolling down. Colby said he had a great time and Steve seemed to enjoy it.

We then drove into main street Keystone and had lunch at the Tackle Box, a local bar with great hamburgers and bar food. Everyone had a great meal. We hit some of the shops, intending to see the gun slinger show that was billed for 3:30. Unfortunately, because they performed extra during Sturgis, the cowboys were off today. Bummer! We were looking forward to meeting 7'2" Big Dave and his sidekicks. Instead, we shopped around a little more and headed back to the campground. The kids enjoyed the water slide and pool and then we all went for a game of putt putt golf. Now we are winding down around a camp fire and the kids are shooting cap guns at each other.

The weather has been very hot, in the upper 80's and even climbing to 90 today. It feels good but cools down quickly once the sun has set for the evening.
