Iceland Air

The travel part of the journey is heavy lifting to Iceland. First, we had to secure our beloved boys on an airplane headed south the Phoenix to stay with Steve's parents. After making it through security and getting them settled on the plane, we had to high tail it from the N gates to the S gates at SeaTac. Thankfully the 3 tram rides aligned perfectly and we were fine on time.

We boarded the plane and in all honesty I expected a little more from an airplane flying us over northern Canada and half way across the world. Don't get me wrong, we made it safely, but we were sandwiched in like the herring they serve profusely over here. I am not exaggerating that I have had less leg room on a Horizon airlines trip. It was crazy.

The good news was the woman next to me was rather petite and the wine on board was French. So there you go, priorities.

Also, the Icelandair flight attendants were everything you expect out of Norwegian flight attendants: efficient, cool and beautiful.

I didn't sleep a wink on the flight over. I think I was too worked up about getting here. It was honestly miserable and Steve was about the same.

We arrive at KEF airport at 7 AM local time, 10 pm our time. We were told to watch our step on the icy metal staircase that led us down to the outside stow-packed tarmac and into the airport. It was pitch black and cold.

Welcome to Iceland.
