What do you do on your last day in Ireland? If you are the VerHoevens, you find a sporting match. But not just an ordinary sport - Irish Football.
None of us have seen anything like this sport, which is most like soccer but involves hand dribbling like basketball and kicking through a field goal like football. It is a fast moving and energetic sports that involves a LOT of contact with zero pads/protection.
And to make it even more impressive, the athletes are not paid! They are "volunteers" just like the hundreds of people who work the stadium and provide security. It was a really fun event, featuring a "junior" event first followed by the "seniors."
I am not sure we could have picked a better way to remember our last day in Ireland!
