The layover in Amsterdam was a little longer than we would have preferred, although we enjoyed shopping the Dutch stores and eating a Dutch breakfast.
KLM was the partner airline operating the flight to Geneva and let me just say that efficiency is not their strong suit. Flight was delayed 30 minutes and every other flight around us was late too. We had to queue in order to queue for the bus, which seemed to be the most inefficient way to get, people on a plane. It was an E190 (according to Colby) which meant 2 seats x 2 seats and my legs hit the seat in front so you know it was cramped. Thankfully it was only about an hour.
We touched down in Geneva at around 2:30 and it took longer to get our luggage, then to clear customs (which consisted of picking a green doorway for nothing to declare and a red one if you did; we picked green and literally walked thru).
Immediately across from exiting customs is the Tourism Bureau where our trave agent had directed us to pick up our travel documents. The gentleman helping there was friendly and handed over the documents efficeintly but coudnLt anser any of my questions because he said he did not put it together; abother group did and they just left it for us to pick up. Fingers crossed we won' need anything else. With some quick directions to the rental car location, we grabbed our bags and found EuroCar.
Justin had booked us a Mercedes Van which would easily accomodate our giant of a son and any numer of bag we elected to pack. Upon our arrival the clerk working questioned if we really wanted a van as it would be large, difficult to park and maybe not necessary. He talked us into taking the Audi A6 which i must say was a really helpful suggestion. The reserved parking at our hotel would most certainly NOT have accomodated the van. Our audi barely fits. And it was also helpful on some rather narrow roads we encountered.
