I have become a backpack / light packer fan. Even when traveling for work, I find that a backpack with minimal personal goods is preferred to a suitcase that must be wheeled and maneuvered through the masses.
In keeping with this new found belief, I have encouraged the 3 men in my life to do likewise. And 2 of them have bought in but the third is adamant about a suitcase, At least we can pack our souvenirs in his bag, lol. I wonder how he will feel after schlepping a rolling suitcase across cobblestone for a mile.
Meanwhile, I am learning that the Swiss have their own unique electrical input so my universal charge isn't all that universal. Ironic when you think about how the Swiss are accommodating to so many different things but also very strong in their personal privacy. So, purchase some new outlet plugs became another checklist.
We won't be skiing on this trip but we hope to find some kind of snow adrenaline moment. For me that means pretty much walking the hanging bridges and sky walks that dot the Alps and lifts. But maybe there will be a sledding or hiking moment that provides some life long memories.
Finally, while i have attempted to learn Swiss German, i have found that it only confuses the German left in my brain from high school (danke, Frau, for teaching me the basics that have somehow managed to cement in my head). So stick to high German, i guess.
